50% of this barrel was lost to evaporation, leaving a reduced flavour bomb of a malt whisky left in the cask. Bottled at natural cask strength of 66.6% alc./vol., only 128 bottles available.
TASTING NOTES:
NOSE
Sweet and fruity with a floral note culminating with honey overtones. Warm, freshly grated ginger with hints of oak and cherry wood notes. Bakery scents including dulce de leche and shortbread cookies, and fresh out of the oven croissants. All well balanced, nothing overpowering anything else.
PALATE
Fresh black cherries turning into Dr. Pepper Cherry with big and deep spice layers. Ripe plums paired with sweet, dried dates. Really rich butterscotch and notes of vanilla direct from the pod. Very warm cinnamon spiciness adds to the overall warmth. Chewy Hot Tamale spice candies, anise, as well as ginger, clove and cardamom linger on throughout until the end.
FINISH
Wonderful texture with black pepper spice, soft Toffifee chocolate adorned caramel candies near the end. Some velvety tannins. Dried orange, ginger and cinnamon, with the faintest hint of cocoa. This is where the high ABV really shows up and shines, but never overwhelms.
